Steamed Green Beans

Stage 2: 6-9 months

Ingredients:
  • fresh or frozan green beans, trimmed and halved
  • water
  • opt: real unsalted butter
 Directions:
  1. Microwave: Place beans in a bowl with about 1 T water.  Cover and microwave until tender.
  2. Stove: Alternatively, place in a pan with just enough water to cover, and cook on low 10-15 minutes.  For adults, salt steamed beans or continue to make appropriate for baby.
  3. Blend to desired consistency, making sure to blend out all chunks (skins make beans difficult to puree well).  Add butter and more water as necessary.
  4. If desired, thicken your puree with baby cereal as long as your baby has already been introduced to cereal. 
  5. Freeze or refrigerate extra baby food.
