Original recipe from Brown Eyed Baker.
Not to be confused with gingersnaps! This recipe makes the perfect cookie-cutter dough.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 c butter
- 3/4 c brown sugar
- 3/4 c molasses
- 2 T milk
- 3 c flour
- 1 T cinnamon
- 1 T ginger
- 3/4 t baking soda
- 1/2 t cloves
- 1/2 t salt
- 1/2 t cayenne pepper, opt
- frosting, opt
- Preheat oven to 350. In a medium bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Add molasses and milk.
- Whisk dry ingredients, combine with wet ingredients. Add the cayenne pepper! It gives the cookies a good snap. :)
- Roll dough onto a floured surface and cut into gingerbread men, or follow these great directions for a timeless cookie house. :)
- Bake 8 minutes for soft cookies, 11 for gingerbread house walls.
- Serve as is or top with frosting.
