Gingerbread


Original recipe from Brown Eyed Baker.

Not to be confused with gingersnaps!  This recipe makes the perfect cookie-cutter dough.

Ingredients:
  • 3/4 c butter
  • 3/4 c brown sugar
  • 3/4 c molasses
  • 2 T milk
  • 3 c flour
  • 1 T cinnamon
  • 1 T ginger
  • 3/4 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t cloves
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t cayenne pepper, opt
  • frosting, opt
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350.  In a medium bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.  Add molasses and milk.  
  2. Whisk dry ingredients, combine with wet ingredients.  Add the cayenne pepper!  It gives the cookies a good snap.  :)
  3. Roll dough onto a floured surface and cut into gingerbread men, or follow these great directions for a timeless cookie house.  :)
  4. Bake 8 minutes for soft cookies, 11 for gingerbread house walls.
  5. Serve as is or top with frosting.
