Drop biscuits
Ingredients:
- 4 c flour
- 5 t baking powder
- 1 t salt
- 2/3 c butter and/or shortening
- 1 1/2 c milk
- Preheat oven to 475.
- Mix dry ingredients. Cut in oil until it resembles corn meal. Mix in milk.
- Roll and cut biscuits, or drop biscuits in heaps on cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 min.
- Serve hot with honey, jam, or sausage gravy.
- Alternatively, drop biscuit dough over boiling, brothy soup to make dumplings. Cover and maintain a simmer for 15-20 min, or until done.
Cheese Herb Biscuits
These make for a delicious side at dinner!

- 1 c shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 T dried basil
- Preheat oven to 475.
- Mix dry ingredients. Cut in oil until it resembles corn meal. Mix in milk.
- Roll and cut biscuits, or drop biscuits in heaps on cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 min.
- Serve hot with tomato soup, egg drop soup, or others good for dipping.
