Taco Seasoning

Pictured: taco seasoning about to go into a pan of best burrito beans.

Original recipe from Tablespoon.

When you grow your own spices, your whole world gets more affordable. Plus, spices are easy to grow and often very prolific! Even if you don't grow your own spices, making your own spice mixes is usually a fun and cheaper way to go. This is a great mild taco seasoning. Set the table with a little shaker of cayenne pepper, and even the spice-lovers can be happy. ;)

Yield: about 2 1/2 cups or 12oz.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 c chili powder
  • 1/2 c salt
  • 1/4 c garlic powder
  • 1/4 c paprika
  • 1/4 c cumin
Directions:
  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine all ingredients well. Store in an air-tight container, such as a recycled spice shaker. Use in best burrito beans, taco beef, etc.
  2. If using home-grown spice(s), shake or stir with a fork with every use to prevent sticking or hardening.
