Original recipe from family, also known as Mississippi Mud.
Sorry, this is one of those desserts. Don't make it if you don't like the idea of eating 5 servings.
Ingredients:
- 1 c flour
- 1/2 c butter
- 1/2 c finely chopped walnuts or pecans
- 8oz (1 pkg) cream cheese
- 1/4 c powdered sugar
- 1 16oz pkg whipped topping
- 5.9oz pkg chocolate or pistachio pudding, prepared with milk
- 1st Layer: Preheat oven to 450. In a small bowl, mix flour, butter, and nuts. Place dough on a cookie sheet, cover entire pan with wax paper. Using a rolling pin, roll the crust across the bottom of the pan; crust will be very thin. Bake 10 minutes or until very light golden brown. Cool to room temperature. Alternatively, make an oreo cookie crust.
- 2nd Layer: Cream powder sugar and cream cheese until fluffy; fold in 3 cups whipped cream. Drop small spoonfuls across crust and spread carefully over crust. Crust will crumble easily under spread; just do your best.
- 3rd Layer: Whisk together pudding and milk and spread over second layer.
- 4th Layer: Top with remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle with walnut bits if desired.
- Follow directions for 1st layer, or make an oreo cookie crust. Crumble crust and set aside.
- Follow directions for 2nd and 3rd layers, folding cream cheese mixture together with pudding.
- Sprinkle individual servings with crumbled crust. Garnish with gummy worms if desired.
