Chocolate Cream Cheese Dessert

Original recipe from family, also known as Mississippi Mud.

Sorry, this is one of those desserts.  Don't make it if you don't like the idea of eating 5 servings.

Ingredients:
  • 1 c flour
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1/2 c finely chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 8oz (1 pkg) cream cheese
  • 1/4 c powdered sugar
  • 1 16oz pkg whipped topping
  • 5.9oz pkg chocolate or pistachio pudding, prepared with milk
Directions (layered):
  1. 1st Layer: Preheat oven to 450. In a small bowl, mix flour, butter, and nuts. Place dough on a cookie sheet, cover entire pan with wax paper. Using a rolling pin, roll the crust across the bottom of the pan; crust will be very thin. Bake 10 minutes or until very light golden brown. Cool to room temperature. Alternatively, make an oreo cookie crust.
  2. 2nd Layer: Cream powder sugar and cream cheese until fluffy; fold in 3 cups whipped cream. Drop small spoonfuls across crust and spread carefully over crust. Crust will crumble easily under spread; just do your best.
  3. 3rd Layer: Whisk together pudding and milk and spread over second layer.
  4. 4th Layer: Top with remaining whipped topping. Sprinkle with walnut bits if desired.
Directions (dump):
  1. Follow directions for 1st layer, or make an oreo cookie crust. Crumble crust and set aside.
  2. Follow directions for 2nd and 3rd layers, folding cream cheese mixture together with pudding.
  3. Sprinkle individual servings with crumbled crust. Garnish with gummy worms if desired.
