Aunt Becky's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Original recipe from family.  Liberties taken.

These cookies are soooooo delicious. My mom has been making them since I can remember, and they've come to be expected at our house at family visit. Her secrets are real butter and huge Guittard milk chocolate chips. Some people try to use whole wheat flour and bla bla bla for their desserts, but this is what I say: if you're gonna make a dessert, make a dessert! Those calories better taste worth their bite!

My mom's original recipe makes about a bajillion batches, so I've narrowed it down to a much more manageable 2 dozen.

Ingredients:
1/2 c real butter
1/2 c brown sugar
1/3 c white sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp soda
1 c chocolate chips

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350. Cream butter with sugars, mix in egg and vanilla. Blend flour, salt, and soda, then mix all together.  Mix in chocolate chips, then plop on cookie sheet.

Now, this is important: these cookies are delicious fresh when baked anywhere from 8-10 minutes, but for soft day-after cookies, it's gotta be 7 minutes. They'll come out still doughy-looking and floppy, but scoop them onto the cooling rack and just let them cool for a while. They'll tough up. A little. But not too much, because that's the beauty of a delicious cookie, right? :)

I've really come to love cookies, because they are so EASY and there are soooo many options. Plus, if you want to make a simple cookie int an all-out dessert, that's easily done with a few seconds in the microwave and a scoop of ice cream on top. Yum!

PS. These cookies freeze wonderfully.
