Original recipe from Cupcakes with Sprinkles.
Ingredients:
- 1 c butter and/or shorting
- 2 c sugar and/or brown sugar
- 2 egg
- 2 t vanilla
- 3/4 c cocoa powder
- 2 c flour
- 1/2 t salt
- 1 t baking soda
- Variations:
- kiss-topped: after baking, squish favorite candy kiss flavor into the top and refrigerate
- surprise: wrap each cookie dough ball around small favorite candy bar
- peanut butter: mix 1 recipe reeses peanut butter mixture (w/o chocolate) into cookie dough
- hot cocoa: oven to 325. Bake 10 min, press 1 square chocolate and 1/2 marshmallow into each cookie, bake 4 min more.
- mint: 2 c mint chips, such as crumbled Andes mints
- double chocolate: 2 c chocolate chips
- white chip: 2 c white chocolate chips (Hershey's are best)
- butterscotch chip: 2 c butterscotch chips
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350. Combine butter and sugar. Blend in egg and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients, mix until smooth. Follow directions above to create variation of choice (all are delicious). Also try mixing variations, or bake them as plain, pure chocolate. :)
- Place spoonfuls of dough onto cookie sheet and flatten slightly. Bake 8-10 min.
- Let cool 5 min on cookie sheet, transfer to wire rack.
