Carly's Awesome Bread

This bread recipe is so yummy, especially made whole wheat and with flax.  It's not going to rise beautifully without white flour, but the shorter bread is well worth the taste.

Ingredients:
Directions:
  1. Dump yeast, sugar, and flax seed into a bowl.  Slowly pour warm water over all.  Mix until smooth.  Let sit 5-10 minutes, until water looks bubbly from the yeast.
  2. Add oil and 3 c flour.  Stir till smooth.
  3. Mix in 2 more c flour and salt, then continue adding flour until texture resembles a sticky note.  Knead till smooth. Cover dough and let rise till double in size, about 1 hour.
  4. Cut dough in half and shape into loaves. Place into two greased loaf pans, let rise to double (about 35 min).
  5. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes or until golden and sounds hollow when tapped with spoon. Remove from pans and cool on a wire rack.
  6. Toast and top it with your favorite foods to make a complete meal.  
Fix-it tip: if you've just pulled a batch of fresh-baked, delicious-looking bread out of the oven and suddenly remember you've left out a key ingredient...like SALT...have no fear!  Try making French Toast Casserole or Bread Pudding, adding the missing salt into the liquid mixture.  It's our little secret. :)
